Realize comprehensive evolution!

In today's era, data is the backbone of enterprise competition. From driving innovation to automating complex processes, organizations are competing to leverage the power of data. We are well aware that the disruptive potential of artificial intelligence not only relies on cutting-edge algorithms, but also requires strong infrastructure as support.

That is why we are proud to announce the latest upgrade to the PowerScale unstructured data storage platform. This update brings several breakthrough features, including support for 200Gb Ethernet and InfiniBand, introduction of 61TB SSD and 24TB HDD for higher storage density, and stronger search capabilities through the new Metadata IQ feature.

Higher storage density

Bring efficiency improvement and cost reduction

In terms of platform hardware, OneFS 9.10 has achieved significant capacity and performance enhancements, reducing storage space by up to 50%, thereby helping enterprise users further reduce storage costs.

This includes full flash F910 nodes, the introduction of support for 61TB QLC SSDs, and the introduction of 200Gb Ethernet front-end and back-end networks. In addition, the hybrid node H series and archive node A series have introduced 24TB HDD to meet customers' TCO optimization requirements for demanding hybrid workloads.

200Gb/s bandwidth and sub microsecond latency

In order to cope with large-scale computationally intensive workloads and other HPC workloads, computing requires fast and efficient access to data. To achieve this, it is necessary to adjust the size of computing and storage accordingly and deploy them to eliminate potential bottlenecks in the infrastructure.

To meet this demand, OneFS 9.10 introduced support for low latency front-end and back-end HDR Infiniband networks on the F710 and F910 all flash platforms, providing up to 200Gb/s bandwidth and sub microsecond latency.

This support can directly benefit from various data intensive workloads, especially those involving high concurrency streaming read and write, such as accessing different files from a single high throughput Linux server.

Combining OneFS multi-path driver and GPUDirect support, the HDR Infiniband or 200GbE options can meet the network and data requirements of more demanding workloads, such as ADAS model training, seismic analysis, and deep learning systems.

 First launch of Metadata IQ

OneFS 9.10 also introduced Metadata IQ for the first time, a new global metadata namespace solution. Metadata IQ combines ElasticSearch database and Kibana visual dashboard, supporting data indexing and querying across multiple geographically distributed clusters.

Metadata IQ efficiently transfers file system metadata from the cluster to external ELK instances, enabling customers to index and discover the required data based on workflow and analysis requirements. This metadata directory can be used for querying, data visualization, and data lifecycle management. With the increase of workflow, Metadata IQ can easily and efficiently query data (regardless of its location), significantly reducing the time required to obtain results.

In today's data-driven environment, efficient management of unstructured data is the cornerstone of enterprise innovation. The introduction of MetaDataIQ enables organizations to discover their data more efficiently and gain insights from billions of files and petabytes of data. Faster access speeds mean more informed and real-time decisions across departments.

Further enhance security

In this era of unprecedented cyber threats, data security, detection, and monitoring have become the top concerns. OneFS 9.10 brings a series of new features and functionalities that make unstructured data and workloads more available, easier to manage, and more secure than ever before.

In OneFS 9.10, OpenSSL was upgraded from 1.0.2 to 3.0.14. We have used the newly validated OpenSSL 3 FIPS module, which is used by all OneFS daemon programs. The most important feature in the OpenSSL 3 upgrade may be the addition of library support for TLS 1.3 cryptography, aimed at meeting strict federated requirements.

OneFS 9.10 has added WebUI and KMIP key management server support for TLS 1.3, while ensuring that TLS 1.3 supports the following features: LDAP, CELOG alerts, audit events, Syslog forwarding, SSO, and SyncIQ.

Support and maintain further optimization

OneFS 9.10 introduces enhanced health check functionality to help customers understand cluster status and provide guidance in case of failures. Specifically, the current health check results will be displayed on the main page of the WebUI to indicate the real-time health status of the system. In addition, this feature also includes detailed fault information, troubleshooting steps, and solution guidance, and provides links to relevant knowledge base articles. Health check ups are logically grouped based on category and frequency, and historical check records can also be easily accessed.

In OneFS 9.10, Dell Technologies Connectivity Services (DTCS) replaced the previous SupportAssist and updated the web and command-line interfaces of the user interface accordingly.

This service aims to transfer event, log, and telemetry data from PowerScale to Dell Support Center. As a complete alternative to SupportAssist, DTCS can quickly identify, diagnose, and solve cluster problems through predictive problem detection and proactive repair capabilities, replacing tedious manual processes.

Conclusion

Data continues to drive the development of artificial intelligence, and the right storage system is crucial for maximizing its potential. With PowerScale's faster networking, higher storage density, and enhanced search capabilities, Dell Technologies enables enterprises to transform data into action, insights, and innovation. Whether supporting media production worth billions of dollars or running critical financial models, these solutions enable companies to focus on results rather than infrastructure.

PowerScale is not only the industry's leading storage system, but also the foundation of global enterprise innovation, providing performance, scalability, flexibility, and simplicity. PowerScale is the driving force behind resilience and a future oriented approach, from unparalleled flexibility to seamless transition between on premises and cloud environments.
